Denied Credit or the Best Loan Terms?
If your credit score was used to deny you credit or the best loan terms, the lender/creditor to whom you applied must now provide you a copy of your credit score upon which they based their decision. This is part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 which went into effect the week of July 17, 2011.
If you believe your credit score is inaccurate, you should check your credit report at all three credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax, & Experion) and correct any errors you find. Each individual is allowed a free copy of their credit reports from each of the three credit report bureaus every year. These are available through www.annualcreditreport.com.
